The invention of the agricultural tractor was very revolutionary for the farming industry as it allowed twice as much work to be completed in half the time. It also meant that they wouldn’t need so many horses which can be expensive to keep in food and vets bills. I imagine that the impact on the workload for the farmers was significant but the downside of using the tractor was of course there were very expensive to purchase in the first place and then you would need someone with the skills and the confidence to drive one. Also as with any mechanical equipment they will go wrong and breakdown so it was important that the farmer learnt to fix any minor problems himself.
