Agricultural Tractor | Welcome

An agricultural tractor is a specially designed vehicle which is used for providing a high torque at slow speeds while being able to haul a trailer. On the trailer will be mounted a range of agricultural implements that are towed behind the tractor to complete tasks that would have historically been completed by hand or using farm animals such as horses to pull the implements. The very first powered farm implements were portable steam engines found in the early 19th century. These were constantly used until well in the 20th century when the reliable internal combustion engine had been developed.

The design of the classic agricultural tractor is very simple. It is an open vehicle with two very large wheels at the back of the vehicle under the seat with the engine in front of the driver. There are then two smaller steerable wheels at the front. The design have not changed much in recent times but there is usually the addition of an enclosed cab on the top of the tractor for enhanced operator safety and comfort for the driver.
